Five Valentine's Gift Ideas for the Cannabis Lover

The sun’s out, it’s Friday, it’s Valentine’s Day, and I started the day off with a sativa gummy. LET’S DO THIS.

If you’ve been living in a SAD-induced funk for the last month and this Valentine’s Day creeped up on you unaware, you’re not alone. Has it not been the most depressing, loooooong January ever? There’s even memes about it. We started off the year having to put our beloved little beagle to sleep. So yeah, January can SUCK IT.

That went to a dark place. Anyway, moving on.

If you’re in need of some last-minute gift ideas for the cannabis-loving person in your life this Valentine’s Day, here’s a few things I’ve either personally tried or have had my eye on, at price points that range from “Will you be my Valentine?” to “Soulmate” status. Let’s get started.

1.) DAVINCI MIQRO VAPORIZER

(Starting at $149.)

I am a big huge fan of dry herb vaporizing. I find it to be a way more pleasant experience compared to combusting. I’m not a doctor, and I don’t think there are studies out there yet to link to, but common sense tells us that vaporizing is likely to be considerably better for your health compared to inhaling burning plant material. The other benefits include:

  • Actual flavor. Really, it’s a game changer.

  • Less odor, and it doesn’t linger the way smoke does.

  • Discrete, especially with a sleek unit like this one.

  • Better efficiency. You’ll be using a lot less flower, and the leftover material, known as AVB, can be ingested (no further decarboxylation needed.) A vaporizer can easily pay for itself over time!

The Miqro is one of the first vaporizers I purchased and it’s really become a daily driver for me. What specifically drew me to this unit was the great design - some of the cool features include a customizable sized chamber for your herb which makes microdosing a breeze, a built-in stirring tool, and a replaceable battery - enabling you to always have an extra ready to go. And I would be lying if I didn’t admit the color attracted me. Purple is my favorite color, though it’s also available in Graphite, Onyx, Cobalt, and Rust. My partner has the grey one. It’s not a perfect device - cleaning it can be a bit fiddly, and some people don't like that it gets hot (I personally think it feels good but I’m a lady in my early 40’s with slightly arthritic hands.) There is an optional silicone glove you can put on it if heat in a concern. I highly recommend upgrading to the Explorers’ Collection because it will give you a bunch of goodies you’ll probably want - like a smell-proof case, an extra battery, a nifty keychain to carry the extra battery and some ground material, and an extra stir stick. (Why doesn’t every portable vaporizer come with an integrated stirring tool? It’s genius.)

People with more tolerance may appreciate the Miqro’s big brother, the IQ2. It has a larger chamber size and the new version now allows you to control airflow. I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet, but it looks promising.

Last minute shoppers rejoice - I’ve found these units for sale locally at BotaniQ, The Road Show, and Liv Ferndale.

2.) A GROWN UP PIECE FROM SUMMERLAND CERAMICS

($75 - $275)

I know I literally just said that I prefer dry herb vaporizing, but the beautiful, minimal design of this pipe by Summerland Ceramics, is tempting me. I’ve seen them for sale at Utopia Gardens, and you can also order online.

If your Valentine’s glassware isn’t meshing well with their home decor, maybe it’s time they stepped up to a more grown-up looking bong? Summerland also has an elegant collection of understated water pieces available in a range of colors inspired by nature. I’m kinda obsessed with them.

3.) LIFTED LADIES BOX

($33.95)

Ok, it won’t be in your hands today, but this month’s Lifted Ladies Box is Valentine’s Day themed AND available to order until February 23, so you still got some time to snag it!

I picked up last summer’s Alchemy box and it was chock full of goodness. (Seriously, I was impressed and I’m hard to please when it comes to subscription boxes. Also, I’m a big idiot for not photographing my loot back when I got it.)

4.) UV STORAGE JARS

($14.99 - $23.99)

I’ve tried a bunch of jars to store cannabis in, from fancy rubber-gasket jars from Crate & Barrel, to various boutique packaging I’ve gotten from local dispensaries. Nothing has preserved the aroma of our flower like these UV jars from 420 Science. The small size will fit most eighths, unless you’ve got a monster nug, but the medium might be a better size if you want a little more space. The extra large size can hold up to an ounce. Get a free small jar when you order the extra large using the code PERFECT2UV. Or buy a set of 4 jars at a discount using the code UVPACK.

5.) THE ORIGINAL DAP CAP

($10.95)

Rounding out the list, I wanted to include something budget-friendly that would be an appropriate “thinking about you” gift for a friend. And what really says you care like saving someone’s lungs from a harsh hit? This would make a great Galentine’s gift. I love this little thing. It’s got a universal adaptor so you can attach a vape pen (and even some vaporizers) to a water piece for an air-cooled hit. It fits typical 510 cartridges, and even rectangular pens, like a Pax Era or Stiizy. It also fits the extra mouth piece that comes with my Davinci Miqro perfectly. I use this thing ALL THE TIME.
