A visit to Herbology Cannabis Co. | River Rouge, MI

A couple weeks ago we had the opportunity to visit Herbology Cannabis Co. in River Rouge and photograph the interiors. From the moment I caught a glimpse of the inside of their store via Instagram I was excited, because it looked like they had put a lot of thought into their build-out.

Here’s the thing: I’m kind of a dispensary snob.

I love when stores have a beautiful brand and esthetic, it brings the whole experience up a notch. And what is cannabis consumption if not an experience?

It’s an exciting time for Herbology Cannabis Co. because on February 1 (TOMORROW!) they will become the second Wayne County dispensary to sell recreational products. We felt fortunate to get inside before the crowds they expect this weekend, it certainly felt like the calm before the storm.

The waiting room is spacious, brightly lit thanks to the banks of windows in the front, and contains no less than six oversized sofas. I’m sure those of you freezing in a long rec line will breathe a sigh of relief when you make it to the door. (As obsessed fans who camp outside to see our favorite band from the front row, we’re no strangers to standing in lines outside for hours in all kinds of weather. I feel you.)

We were quickly whisked to the retail area and it definitely lived up to expectations. This is a beautiful store. It’s a good-sized space, with plenty of registers, but the warm colors, thoughtful lighting, and dropped ceiling really make the store feel intimate. On our trip, we found products from North Cannabis Co., Redbud Roots Michigan, Kushy Punch, Rise Meds, Mary’s Medicinals, Dixie Elixirs, Platinum Vape Michigan, and Choice Labs. We purchased an eighth of Granddaddy Purple, some edibles, and a THC-infused salve from Mary’s.

It’s still so surreal to me that recreational is finally here. It will be interesting to see how the marketplace will change as more recreational stores open up.

Thanks to Herbology’s staff for letting us hang out and make some pictures.
